What the job entails
As an AI Engineer, you will contribute to the development of reliable, high-performance software and AI-powered applications for contract review. The role combines software engineering, search technology and artificial intelligence, with a focus on building robust web backend systems and applying data structures and algorithms effectively.
You will work with cloud infrastructure and may contribute to search, machine learning, natural language processing and agent applications. The position is based in Tokyo and follows a hybrid working model. It is a full-time opportunity within a multicultural engineering environment, where clear communication in Japanese and English is valued.
Key requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics or a related technical field.
At least five years’ experience in search or software engineering.
Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
Practical experience designing reliable, high-performance web backend systems.
Experience with cloud infrastructure services such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure.
Japanese communication ability at JLPT N2 level or equivalent.
Experience with Apache Lucene, Elasticsearch or Solr is advantageous.
Experience building agent applications using technologies such as LangGraph, Ragas or LlamaIndex is advantageous.
Proficiency in Python or Java, alongside experience with machine learning and natural language processing, is desirable.
Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading large-scale projects involving 10 or more people is desirable.
Strong communication skills for multicultural teams, including the ability to communicate in both Japanese and English.
Willingness to adopt new technologies, particularly AI-driven development approaches.
