Position Overview
The Data Architect will play a key role in designing and implementing enterprise-scale data platforms, modern analytics ecosystems, and AI-enabled solutions. This position combines data architecture, cloud engineering, AI/ML enablement, and consulting responsibilities, working closely with business stakeholders, engineers, and data scientists to deliver impactful digital transformation initiatives.
The role also supports client-facing activities, including solution design, technical advisory, and pre-sales engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Platform Design
Design and maintain enterprise data architectures, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
Build scalable data platforms supporting analytics, reporting, and AI initiatives.
Design and optimize data integration, ETL, and ELT frameworks.
Establish best practices for data storage, governance, and lifecycle management.
Develop scalable and high-performance data processing solutions.
AI & Machine Learning Enablement
Design, implement, and operationalize end-to-end machine learning and AI pipelines.
Collaborate with data scientists and AI specialists to evaluate and implement AI use cases.
Support the adoption of MLOps frameworks and AI engineering best practices.
Translate business objectives into practical AI and data platform solutions.
Evaluate emerging AI technologies and identify innovation opportunities.
Cloud, DevOps & Modern Engineering
Align platform architecture with business and technical requirements.
Evaluate and recommend appropriate cloud, open-source, and commercial technologies.
Integrate AI and analytics capabilities into existing enterprise environments.
Support agile delivery methodologies and DevOps-driven development practices.
Conduct architecture reviews and technical assessments to improve system performance and maintainability.
Data Governance, Security & Compliance
Establish and maintain data governance frameworks.
Monitor data quality, integrity, and security standards.
Collaborate with risk and security stakeholders to manage data and AI-related risks.
Support responsible and ethical AI implementation practices.
Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Management & Consulting
Work closely with business leaders to understand strategic objectives and technical requirements.
Present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Facilitate workshops and architecture discussions with client stakeholders.
Support pre-sales activities, solution proposals, and client presentations.
Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary project teams.
Required Qualifications
Proven experience as a Data Architect, Data Engineering Lead, or similar role.
Strong experience designing enterprise-scale data platforms and architectures.
Hands-on experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT design, and data transformation.
Experience with modern database technologies and large-scale data environments.
Experience with big data technologies such as:
Google BigQuery
Apache Spark
Hadoop
Similar distributed data platforms
Familiarity with machine learning workflows and MLOps practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
Business-level Japanese and English communication skills.
Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments.
Strong ownership mindset and hands-on approach to delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing cloud-native data platforms.
Experience leading AI and data modernization initiatives.
Knowledge of data governance and data security frameworks.
Experience supporting digital transformation projects within large enterprises.
Experience working in consulting or professional services environments.
Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies and organizational transformation initiatives.
