What the job entails
This role sits at the heart of a major systems migration programme in the Japan business. The MS Access Specialist will analyse existing customer and client databases, map data flows to business processes, and support the transition from legacy platforms to new open-source systems. The position is both hands-on and analytical, with a strong emphasis on understanding current data structures and how they connect to operational requirements.
You will work closely with internal development teams to design and build new database architecture, plan and implement data migration, and help ensure a smooth cutover to the new environment. In addition, you will collaborate with third-party system providers to develop new APIs and support integration across platforms. The role requires strong technical judgement, an organised approach to change delivery and the ability to contribute to a business-critical transformation initiative.
Key requirements / What we look for
Strong experience with legacy data platforms, particularly MS Access
Solid knowledge of RDBMS, including SQL and stored procedures
Experience in data migration, ETL or data warehousing [suggestion: highly advantageous]
Ability to analyse data flows and translate business needs into technical solutions
