Overview

A global healthcare and medical technology organization is seeking a senior commercial leader to oversee national channel sales strategy and partner management across Japan.

This position is responsible for driving strategic business growth through distribution partnerships, executive stakeholder engagement, and commercial planning within the healthcare industry. The role requires strong leadership capabilities, high-level negotiation experience, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to support long-term business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with major channel and distribution partners, including executive and C-level stakeholders

  • Lead and support a team of channel management professionals

  • Manage high-level commercial negotiations and partnership agreements

  • Drive channel strategy development including:

    • Partner evaluation

    • Partner selection

    • Strategic business planning

  • Oversee implementation and execution of:

    • Distribution agreements

    • Incentive programs

    • Commercial partnership initiatives

  • Establish and execute mid- to long-term business plans with strategic partners

  • Collaborate closely with internal sales and commercial teams to align channel activities with broader business objectives

  • Resolve account ownership and partner-related issues when necessary

  • Analyze:

    • Market trends

    • Customer needs

    • Competitive landscape

    • Business priorities

  • Support field sales strategy development and execution

  • Identify growth opportunities, manage sales pipelines, and support commercial performance initiatives

  • Lead negotiations for major commercial contracts and strengthen strategic customer relationships

Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred

Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in:

    • Commercial strategy

    • Channel sales

    • Distribution management

    • Healthcare industry business development

  • Experience engaging and influencing executive-level stakeholders

  • Experience managing large-scale healthcare distribution or channel partnerships preferred

  • Background in management consulting or business strategy consulting preferred

  • Proven experience driving operational and process improvements

Technical Skills
  • Familiarity with CRM and business intelligence platforms such as:

    • Salesforce

    • Power BI

    • Similar reporting and analytics tools
