This role focuses on Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions and related digital transformation initiatives across regulated manufacturing environments.
Role Overview
This position is responsible for driving MES solution sales activities, developing strategic customer relationships, and supporting pharmaceutical manufacturers in their digital manufacturing transformation journey. The role combines consultative selling, solution advisory, account development, and stakeholder engagement across manufacturing, quality, engineering, and IT functions.
Key Responsibilities
Drive business development activities to achieve revenue targets and expand market presence within Japan.
Build and maintain strong relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, strategic partners, and key stakeholders.
Identify customer challenges and business requirements through discovery workshops and consultative engagements.
Provide subject matter expertise on MES solutions and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
Translate customer requirements into compelling digital manufacturing and MES value propositions.
Develop account strategies involving production, quality, engineering, IT, procurement, and executive stakeholders.
Lead proposal preparation, solution presentations, commercial discussions, and business case development.
Collaborate with pre-sales, delivery, and technical teams to ensure solution alignment and successful project outcomes.
Coordinate with system integrators, technology partners, equipment vendors, and consulting organizations.
Manage sales pipelines, forecasting activities, opportunity progression, and CRM reporting.
Support quotation management, contract negotiations, order processing, invoicing, and commercial documentation.
Represent the organization at industry conferences, professional associations, and pharmaceutical technology events.
Contribute to market development initiatives and strengthen industry visibility.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Experience in sales, consulting, business development, or technical customer-facing roles.
Understanding of enterprise software, manufacturing systems, or industrial automation environments.
Knowledge of commercial contracts, project scope management, pricing structures, and project risk considerations.
Strong presentation, stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to engage both technical and business decision-makers.
Preferred Experience
Experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or regulated manufacturing industries.
Exposure to manufacturing digitalization, smart factory, or IT/OT transformation initiatives.
Experience collaborating with plant operations, quality teams, engineering departments, and corporate IT organizations.
Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders ranging from shop-floor users to executive leadership.
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in regulated industries.
Technical Knowledge
Understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and digital manufacturing platforms.
Familiarity with manufacturing and enterprise systems such as:
SCADA
DCS
ERP
LIMS
eQMS
Manufacturing data platforms
Knowledge of industrial system integrations, manufacturing data flows, and operational technology architectures.
Understanding of software selection processes, RFP/RFI responses, bid management, and solution proposals.
Awareness of validation methodologies, computerized systems compliance, and risk-based implementation approaches.
Knowledge of electronic records, electronic signatures, and data governance principles.
Ability to identify process optimization and digital transformation opportunities within manufacturing operations.
