Position Overview
The Senior Project Manager will lead complex customer-facing AI and software implementation projects from requirements gathering through final delivery. This individual contributor role is responsible for ensuring successful project execution across multiple concurrent initiatives while driving continuous improvement of project governance, quality management, delivery methodologies, and operational standards.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing enterprise software development projects, navigating complex stakeholder environments, and delivering high-impact transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Execution
Lead multiple enterprise AI, software development, and digital transformation projects simultaneously.
Manage project scope, timelines, priorities, dependencies, risks, issues, and resource coordination.
Define and maintain project governance frameworks, milestones, and acceptance criteria.
Drive projects from requirements definition through testing, deployment, and customer acceptance.
Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
Stakeholder Management
Build consensus among executive stakeholders, business leaders, technical teams, and client organizations.
Facilitate communication between customers, implementation teams, commercial teams, and operational stakeholders.
Manage expectation setting, change requests, and delivery commitments.
Maintain transparency and trust throughout the project lifecycle.
AI Solution Delivery
Support the implementation of AI-powered products, generative AI applications, and intelligent automation solutions.
Translate business requirements into practical solution designs and implementation plans.
Define AI evaluation criteria, testing approaches, and quality measurement frameworks.
Help customers understand AI capabilities, limitations, and operational considerations.
Address challenges associated with AI performance variability, model behavior, and evolving requirements.
Risk & Quality Management
Proactively identify project risks, delivery bottlenecks, and emerging issues.
Lead escalation and resolution processes for critical incidents and project challenges.
Reduce ambiguity in requirements and improve delivery quality through structured reviews and validation processes.
Implement quality assurance mechanisms to minimize rework and delivery defects.
PMO & Delivery Excellence
Develop and improve project management standards, methodologies, and governance practices.
Create reusable templates, delivery frameworks, quality gates, and operational procedures.
Establish project performance metrics and reporting mechanisms.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across project delivery teams.
Support knowledge sharing, lessons learned activities, and best-practice adoption.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
5+ years of project management experience within software development, enterprise systems, or digital transformation projects.
Proven experience managing projects from requirements gathering through user acceptance testing and delivery.
Strong experience working with multiple stakeholder groups, including customers, technical teams, commercial teams, and executive leadership.
Demonstrated ability to manage scope, priorities, risks, and change requests across complex projects.
Experience recovering challenged projects and resolving delivery issues.
Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
Native-level Japanese communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-structuring capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience delivering generative AI, machine learning, LLM, RAG, AI agent, or intelligent automation projects.
Experience managing multiple projects or programs concurrently.
Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
Experience with PMO functions, project governance, and delivery standardization.
Knowledge of contract management, commercial delivery, and project profitability management.
Experience creating project metrics, reporting frameworks, and quality management systems.
Professional project management certifications such as PMP or equivalent.
Business-level English communication skills.
