About the Project
Cornerstone is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a client-facing project for an international beverage bottling company operating in Japan.
The client is undertaking a range of business and technology initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency, cross-functional collaboration and project delivery across the organisation. As part of a geographically diverse environment, you will work with stakeholders across multiple functions to ensure projects are delivered successfully from planning through to execution.
You will be employed by Cornerstone on a fixed-term employment contract and assigned to a project delivered by Cornerstone for the client.
The role is based in Shibuya, Tokyo, with a hybrid working arrangement.
What the Job Entails
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring delivery against agreed objectives, timelines and business requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Defining project scope, objectives, deliverables and success criteria.
Developing and maintaining project plans, schedules and documentation.
Coordinating stakeholders across business and technology teams.
Monitoring project progress and reporting status, risks and issues.
Managing project governance activities, meetings and decision-making processes.
Identifying dependencies, mitigating risks and resolving delivery challenges.
Facilitating communication between stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency.
Supporting resource planning and prioritisation across multiple workstreams.
Driving projects to completion while maintaining focus on quality, timeline and business outcomes.
Contributing to continuous improvement in project delivery practices and team collaboration.
This role is suited to someone who is organised, proactive and comfortable managing multiple stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
Key Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience
Proven experience as a Project Manager or in a closely related project delivery role.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects from planning through implementation.
Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage competing demands.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
Experience working across cross-functional teams and coordinating multiple workstreams.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to risk management.
Ability to maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.
Experience working in fast-paced corporate environments.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a hybrid team.
Professional-level English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience within consumer goods, FMCG or beverage industries.
Experience working with international stakeholders and distributed teams.
Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
Experience using project management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project, Asana or similar platforms.
Japanese language skills would be advantageous.
Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile or equivalent) is desirable.
