Role Overview
The company is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead enterprise AI and machine learning initiatives across a broad range of industries. This role combines hands-on technical ownership, client-facing consulting, and team leadership responsibilities.
You will lead end-to-end delivery of advanced AI solutions, including LLM applications, predictive modeling, optimization, and production deployment, while mentoring junior team members and contributing to the organization’s technical leadership and external presence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end data science projects from requirements definition through deployment and operationalization
Design and develop machine learning, deep learning, NLP, LLM, image processing, and structured data models
Conduct data preprocessing, exploratory analysis, feature engineering, model evaluation, and optimization
Collaborate with engineering teams on MLOps and LLMOps implementation and production deployment
Lead client discussions, technical proposal development, feasibility analysis, and solution planning
Conduct technical reviews and code reviews while mentoring junior and mid-level data scientists
Support organizational knowledge sharing through conference presentations, publications, technical blogs, and community engagement
Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and business teams to maximize project outcomes
Contribute to AI strategy and advanced technology initiatives across the organization
Requirements
Practical machine learning experience covering at least one of the following:
LLM / Generative AI
NLP
Computer Vision
Structured Data Modeling
Experience owning projects from requirements gathering through evaluation and deployment
Hands-on experience with cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
Experience using Git and Docker in team-based development environments
Experience in customer communication, problem analysis, and solution definition
Leadership experience as a project lead or team lead
Strong stakeholder communication and problem-solving abilities
Japanese business fluency required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with LLM training and local inference environments
Knowledge of causal inference, mathematical optimization, or advanced statistical modeling
Experience building and operating MLOps environments
Distributed computing experience such as Spark
Participation or achievements in Kaggle or similar competitions
Conference speaking or technical publication experience
OSS contribution experience
Comfortable communicating in English
