Job Overview
A company operating in a highly regulated and rapidly evolving business environment is seeking a Senior Accountant to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience at a publicly listed company in Japan and be capable of managing accounting operations from day-to-day bookkeeping through financial close. Experience using English in practical work coordination with overseas subsidiaries is required.
In this role, you will support the creation of sustainable corporate value through the following:
Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial statements.
Maintaining and strengthening internal controls over financial reporting.
Supporting smooth execution of audits and regulatory compliance.
Providing reliable financial information to support management and governance decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations and Financial Close
Oversee daily accounting activities, including general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
Prepare timely and accurate financial statements.
Assess and manage accounting treatments for non-routine or significant transactions.
Financial Reporting and Compliance
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards (IFRS, JGAAP, etc.).
Prepare and respond to disclosure documents and statutory filings.
Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, accounting standards, and relevant laws and regulations.
Maintain proper accounting records and supporting documentation.
Audit and Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors on accounting and financial reporting matters.
Provide documentation and address findings from internal audits.
Coordinate with tax advisors, legal teams, and other external experts.
Prepare and present financial information and analysis for management and the Board of Directors.
Process Improvement and Advisory
Continuously improve accounting processes, systems, and internal controls.
Support implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Provide accounting and financial guidance to other departments.
Participate in finance-related projects and system implementations.
Professional Ethics and Standards
Maintain high ethical standards, accuracy, and confidentiality.
Properly document accounting judgments and clearly articulate their rationale.
Promote a strong culture of internal control and compliance within the accounting function.
Required Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
Financial accounting experience at a publicly listed company.
Strong knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting.
Ability to perform reporting and business operations in English within a multinational environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing accounting functions in complex or high-growth organizations.
Hands-on experience with external audits and public disclosures.
