What the job entails

As Accountant, you will support the accounting and finance operations of the company’s Japan legal entity, working closely with the CFO and Senior Accountant. You will contribute to monthly and annual closing, financial statement preparation, accounts receivable monitoring, intercompany reconciliations and transaction processing.

Your responsibilities will also include uploading journal entries, processing vendor and employee expense payments, maintaining fixed-asset records and supporting accounting controls. You will assist with tax filings, annual audits, stocktaking and cash and asset counts, as well as maintaining the SAP system and filing legal documents.

The role involves regular communication with banks, auditors, tax advisers, lawyers and regional functional teams across Asia Pacific. This is a long-term interim opportunity with potential to become permanent, offering broad experience across the full accounting cycle.

Key requirements

  • At least three years’ experience in accounting or finance, ideally within an international retail, wholesale or luxury fashion business.

  • At least third-class certification in Nissho Boki bookkeeping.

  • Sound understanding of monthly and annual financial closing processes.

  • Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, accounts receivable, payments and journal entries.

  • Familiarity with SAP is desirable.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

  • Good communication skills in Japanese, with at least English reading and writing proficiency.

  • Experience working with regional teams and external stakeholders such as banks, auditors and tax advisers.

  • A positive, flexible and open-minded approach, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Strong attention to detail, organisation and commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
