Job Title: Country Manager (Japan & Korea)

Location: Tokyo, Japan
Reporting Line: Reports to Regional Managing Director (North Asia)

Overview

This role is responsible for leading and managing the overall business performance across Japan and Korea for a global premium consumer goods company.

The position holds full accountability for developing and executing commercial, marketing, and operational strategies in partnership with local distributors and regional teams. It plays a critical role in shaping market strategy, driving growth, and strengthening brand presence in one of the company’s key markets globally.

As a senior leadership position, the role involves regular interaction with executive leadership through business reviews, strategic planning sessions, and market visits.

Key Responsibilities
Business Leadership & Strategy
  • Own and deliver revenue targets, market share growth, and overall business performance for Japan and Korea

  • Develop and execute long-term commercial and market strategies aligned with global objectives

  • Lead annual planning cycles, forecasting, and budget management (including marketing investments)

  • Provide market insights and competitive intelligence to inform strategic decisions

Distributor & Partner Management
  • Build and manage strong relationships with local distributor partners

  • Drive alignment on business priorities and ensure effective execution of joint business plans

  • Monitor performance and ensure accountability through regular reviews and reporting

  • Improve visibility and effectiveness of in-market execution across channels

Marketing & Brand Development
  • Collaborate with regional teams to design and execute marketing strategies

  • Strengthen brand equity through consistent and high-quality activation across channels

  • Support CRM initiatives and digital engagement strategies to enhance customer acquisition and retention

  • Oversee new product launches and ensure strong market entry and visibility

Sales & Commercial Execution
  • Drive sales growth across on-trade and off-trade channels

  • Expand distribution footprint and improve product presence in key accounts

  • Ensure excellence in retail execution, including premium positioning and in-store visibility

  • Support expansion initiatives such as branded retail concepts and strategic partnerships

Operations & Performance Management
  • Oversee forecasting accuracy, supply planning, and inventory alignment

  • Track and manage KPIs including sales, financial performance, and compliance

  • Prepare and deliver regular business reports and presentations for senior leadership

  • Lead performance reviews and contribute to board-level discussions

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with regional marketing, commercial, and supply chain teams

  • Align internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of strategies

  • Lead training and capability-building initiatives for partners and internal teams

Requirements
  • Strong experience in premium consumer goods industry within Japan

  • Proven track record in commercial leadership, business development, and brand management

  • Fluent in both Japanese and English

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including engagement with senior stakeholders

  • Ability to manage complex business environments and multiple stakeholders

  • High level of independence, ownership, and leadership maturity
