What the job entails

As Lead Analytics Specialist, you will deliver commercially focused insights to the vending machine business, supporting growth in net sales revenue, profitability and operational efficiency. You will become a trusted partner to commercial stakeholders, addressing challenges such as margin erosion, product assortment, pricing, placement and workforce productivity.

You will conduct deep-dive analyses, root-cause investigations, forecasting and scenario modelling, translating your findings into practical recommendations and business cases. You will also design and evaluate A/B tests and pilots covering areas such as pricing, assortment and promotions, applying robust statistical methods to guide decisions on scaling or refinement.

Working in an agile environment, you will collaborate with Analytics, Data Science and AI, Data Engineering and Data Governance teams. You will help validate models against real-world business needs, automate recurring analyses, improve reporting processes and identify data-quality issues to ensure stakeholders receive reliable, timely insights.

Key requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Economics, Data Science or a related quantitative discipline.

  • At least five years’ experience in analytics, insights or business intelligence, preferably supporting commercial teams in FMCG, retail or vending.

  • Proven ability to conduct detailed business analysis and deliver actionable recommendations.

  • Experience designing, leading and evaluating A/B tests or commercial pilots, including statistical analysis and business impact assessment.

  • Advanced SQL skills, ideally using Snowflake, for data extraction, manipulation and analysis.

  • Strong Power BI capability, including dashboard development and self-service analytics.

  • Proficiency in Python, preferably in Databricks, for exploratory analysis and statistical testing.

  • Understanding of commercial measures such as net sales revenue, unit margin, operational efficiency and workforce productivity.

  • Familiarity with agile, sprint-based delivery and continuous improvement practices.

  • Working knowledge of data-quality monitoring, validation and QA processes.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and business-partnering skills, with the ability to explain complex findings clearly.

  • Collaborative, proactive approach with a clear focus on measurable business impact.

  • Fluency in Japanese.

  • Experience collaborating on data science or artificial intelligence projects is advantageous.

  • Business-level English communication skills are advantageous.
