Overview

A globally recognized sportswear brand is seeking an experienced Ecommerce Department Manager to lead its direct-to-consumer digital business in Japan. This role will oversee commercial performance, site operations, and team leadership while aligning local execution with global ecommerce strategies.

This is a high-impact leadership position offering ownership of a key revenue channel within a dynamic, international environment.

Position Summary

The Ecommerce Department Manager will be responsible for driving online sales growth, optimizing site performance, and leading a team to deliver best-in-class digital experiences. The role combines P&L ownership, digital strategy execution, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Ecommerce Performance Management

  • Own ecommerce sales performance and key site KPIs

  • Develop strategies to improve conversion rates, UX, and digital services

  • Manage budgets, inventory planning, and promotional activities

Planning & Reporting

  • Create monthly sales plans and daily performance tracking

  • Prepare weekly and monthly business reports

  • Deliver presentations to senior management and global stakeholders

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop team members through regular 1-on-1s

  • Foster a high-performance and collaborative team environment

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with retail, marketing, merchandising, and operations teams

  • Participate in global and regional alignment meetings

Digital & Platform Optimization

  • Drive ecommerce platform improvements and enhancements

  • Support or lead platform renewal and implementation projects

Requirements

Core Requirements

  • 5+ years of management experience in ecommerce

  • 5+ years of hands-on ecommerce site management, ideally within a global brand

  • 3+ years of digital/web marketing operations experience

  • Proven experience managing ecommerce P&L and KPIs

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Experience with web analytics tools and data-driven optimization

  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience with ecommerce platform implementation or renewal

  • Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) experience preferred

Industry Experience

  • Background in fashion, sportswear, or lifestyle brands preferred

  • Retail or store operations experience is a plus

Language

  • Business-level Japanese and English

  • TOEIC 850+ preferred

  • Native-level fluency in either language is a plus
