What the Job Entails
As Finance & Accounting Manager, you will oversee core accounting activities for the company’s Japan and Korea operations. This role is well suited to an experienced Senior Accountant, Assistant Manager, or Junior Manager ready to take on broader leadership responsibility.
You will lead monthly opening and closing activities, support timely financial reporting, and consolidate accounting data for the Japanese and Korean subsidiaries. Responsibilities include managing general ledger activities, reviewing profit and loss and balance sheet information, coordinating with internal stakeholders, and supporting audit and compliance requirements.
You will also lead or supervise global accounting and finance projects, contribute to process improvements, and take on additional responsibilities as business needs evolve. The position is based in Minato City, Tokyo, with a hybrid work model and a salary range of JPY 7,000,000 to 10,500,000 in base compensation.
Key Requirements
Fluent Japanese communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with and explain financial matters to internal stakeholders.
Approximately 5–7 years of practical accounting and finance experience in a commercial company or accounting firm.
Experience leading or taking primary responsibility for monthly and annual closing processes.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, journal entries, general ledger management, and financial close procedures.
Experience preparing or reviewing financial statements, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic functions and pivot tables.
Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP or SAP Concur.
Basic English reading and writing skills.
A proactive, flexible, and solutions-oriented approach to problem solving and business improvement.
Ability to oversee accounting operations across Japan and Korea and support international accounting or finance projects.
Experience mentoring colleagues or leading a team is advantageous.
Experience with audits, statutory reporting, tax filings, financial planning and analysis, or management accounting is preferred.
CPA certification, equivalent qualifications, or progress toward a relevant accounting credential is a plus.
Previous experience in the fashion or apparel industry is beneficial but not required.
