The Finance function plays a central role in maintaining robust accounting controls, meeting regulatory obligations, and coordinating effectively with local stakeholders, offshore support teams, and external advisers. What the job entails

As Financial Controller, you will lead accounting close and control activities, ensuring closing adjustments, journal entries, and control procedures are completed accurately and on time. You will work closely with teams in Japan as well as support teams in Porto and India to resolve breaks, remediate issues, and keep the close process on track.

You will also be responsible for head office reporting, local regulatory reporting, and daily trial balance preparation. In addition, you will support local tax filing, audit and accounting reviews, and finance transformation initiatives, including process standardization, automation, and system testing. The role also includes updating accounting procedures and user manuals, troubleshooting issues, and contributing to broader finance projects.

Key requirements / What we look for

  • Accounting or financial reporting experience in securities, banking, asset management, sell-side, or audit environments

  • Strong knowledge of local GAAP and IFRS

  • Knowledge of Japanese tax rules and tax calculation

  • Understanding of banking or securities businesses and financial products

  • Advanced Excel skills, business-level English, and strong communication and stakeholder management skills [suggestion]
