About the Role
The HR Generalist will support a wide range of HR operations in a multinational environment, partnering closely with business leaders and global HR teams. This role covers recruitment, employee relations, payroll coordination, compensation, performance management, compliance, and talent development while ensuring alignment with both local labor regulations and global HR standards.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with global HR teams and support multinational HR initiatives
Act as a strategic HR partner to business units, supporting workforce planning and talent retention
Manage end-to-end recruitment and selection processes
Oversee onboarding and offboarding operations
Prepare and manage employment contracts with support from external legal counsel when required
Provide guidance and support to employees and managers regarding workplace concerns, grievances, and employee relations matters
Manage and improve performance appraisal processes to support high-performance culture
Ensure competitive and performance-oriented compensation structures and salary review processes
Administer payroll operations in coordination with external payroll vendors
Review and manage employee benefits programs to maintain competitiveness and compliance
Identify training needs, coordinate learning & development initiatives, and evaluate effectiveness
Prepare HR reports and analytics for management and global headquarters
Ensure compliance with Japanese labor law and HR best practices
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
5+ years of HR experience preferred
Experience managing payroll, onboarding/offboarding, and employment contracts with external vendors and legal support
Knowledge of HR reporting and salary review processes
Strong understanding of Japanese labor law and HR best practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
Ability to work effectively in a multinational and cross-cultural environment
Native-level Japanese language proficiency
Business-level English proficiency
