What the job entails
This is a junior-level Investment Research Analyst role supporting the Japan team. The position is focused on both new investment research and ongoing portfolio company analysis, helping the team assess opportunities, monitor performance, and identify practical ways to improve business results and governance.
You will conduct qualitative and quantitative primary research using public filings, websites, transcripts, and other available information; build financial models; and prepare high-quality written communications with Japanese companies. The role also involves interviewing and engaging with management, as well as speaking with customers, suppliers, competitors, and other industry professionals to develop a well-rounded view of a business.
In addition, you will support the development of business plans aimed at improving ROE and other key areas of performance. The role is based in the Hong Kong office and is expected to make a meaningful contribution to the broader team.
Key requirements / What we look for
At least 2 years of banking or analyst experience
Fluency in English; Japanese is beneficial
Strong written communication, research, analytical, and financial modeling skills
Financial statement literacy and advanced Excel/PowerPoint skills
Experience with Japanese companies is preferred
