Overview
A global organization within the fashion, textile, and lifestyle industry is seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager to lead local marketing and communications activities across the Japan market.
This role combines strategic planning with hands-on campaign execution across both B2B and consumer-facing initiatives. The position works closely with regional and global teams while managing relationships with brand partners, media, agencies, and external stakeholders.
Position Summary
The Marketing & Communications Manager will oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of integrated marketing and communications activities in Japan. The role includes campaign management, PR, social media, event activation, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership responsibilities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening brand positioning, executing global campaigns locally, and driving engagement across fashion, retail, and lifestyle sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy & Planning
Develop and execute local marketing and communications plans aligned with global strategies
Support implementation of both trade-facing and consumer-facing campaigns
Collaborate with regional leadership and global teams on campaign rollouts and local market initiatives
Generate and propose new marketing concepts, activations, and partnership opportunities
Campaign Execution & Brand Activation
Manage execution of integrated marketing projects across online and offline channels
Support promotional initiatives with retail partners, brands, designers, institutions, and media stakeholders
Coordinate events, advertising campaigns, social media activities, influencer collaborations, trade shows, and retail activations
Produce campaign collateral, presentations, and supporting documentation
Partnership & Stakeholder Management
Develop and maintain relationships with key brand and retail partners
Coordinate with agencies, vendors, media, and external suppliers
Support business development activities through marketing proposals and activation planning
Ensure consistent communication and alignment across stakeholders
PR & Communications
Lead PR and communications initiatives across trade and consumer channels
Manage digital communications, social media activities, and media outreach
Expand and strengthen media relationships within Japan
Ensure brand consistency across all communications and marketing materials
Project & Budget Management
Oversee project administration, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting
Manage vendor contracts, campaign timelines, and milestone tracking
Maintain project data and documentation within internal systems
Define and report campaign KPIs, measurement, and evaluation metrics
Team Collaboration & Leadership
Manage and support local marketing coordination staff
Work closely with regional and global marketing teams
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders across multiple markets
Qualifications
Required
Minimum 5 years of campaign planning and execution experience
Experience within fashion, apparel, textile, sports, outdoor, or lifestyle industries preferred
Demonstrated project or event management experience
Staff management experience
Native-level Japanese communication ability
Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong understanding of marketing strategy and communications practices
Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Strong organizational and stakeholder management skills
Strong digital literacy and understanding of social media ecosystems
Preferred
Experience working within foreign or multinational organizations
Experience managing social media campaigns and agencies
Background in fashion-related industries highly preferred
Education in marketing, communications, PR, or related fields advantageous
