Role Overview
The company is seeking a Project Manager (or experienced PM candidate) to lead initiatives in rapidly evolving areas such as AI, generative AI, and data platforms. This role requires managing both technical and delivery aspects of projects, navigating ambiguity while ensuring structured execution.
Depending on experience, you may oversee a large-scale engagement or manage multiple concurrent projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Leadership
Lead end-to-end project execution, including planning, team setup, scheduling, and issue management
Drive progress while maintaining alignment with project goals and timelines
Develop strategies and solutions in collaboration with internal teams and clients
Client Engagement
Work closely with clients from early-stage problem identification through delivery
Manage expectations, negotiate requirements, and address challenges proactively
Ensure clear communication between technical and business stakeholders
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with internal teams across different functions to deliver integrated solutions
Support projects across various industries and domains
Communication & Reporting
Maintain clear and structured documentation (requirements, plans, issue logs)
Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
Required Qualifications
Experience managing software development projects as a Project Manager
Hands-on experience with Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies
Solid understanding of AI and data infrastructure concepts (e.g., APIs, models, data structures, cost, and security considerations)
Experience working directly with clients, including requirement adjustments and issue management
Strong documentation and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in requirements definition, system design, or architecture planning
Team leadership and people management experience
Project management certifications (e.g., PMP, Scrum Master)
Experience building or managing data platforms (e.g., modern data tools or cloud-based solutions)
Experience managing PoC or early-stage technology validation projects
Familiarity with risks and stakeholder alignment when introducing emerging technologies such as generative AI
Experience evaluating and selecting new technologies
Working Style
Fully remote within Japan
Communication primarily via online tools (chat and video conferencing)
Flexible working hours with some autonomy during the day
Occasional in-person meetings depending on project needs
