Overview

A globally recognized luxury fashion house is seeking a Retail Manager to oversee retail operations and business development across Japan. This position will be responsible for new store openings, retail performance, operational excellence, team leadership, and customer experience management.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving sales growth, strengthening brand presence, and ensuring consistent execution of luxury retail standards across the market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead new store opening projects and support retail network expansion initiatives in Japan

  • Manage all pre-opening activities, timelines, and operational readiness plans

  • Oversee daily retail operations including sales performance, expense management, inventory control, security, and store compliance

  • Develop and execute retail strategies to achieve or exceed sales, profitability, and operational targets

  • Lead, coach, and motivate store teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences and strong commercial results

  • Partner closely with merchandising teams to optimize product assortment, allocation, and sell-through performance

  • Drive operational efficiency and ensure effective execution of promotional campaigns and marketing initiatives at store level

  • Oversee CRM activities and customer engagement strategies to strengthen loyalty and retention

  • Monitor customer feedback and implement initiatives to enhance service standards

  • Develop succession plans and support talent development across retail teams

  • Maintain a positive, collaborative, and high-performance working environment

  • Support additional retail projects and business initiatives as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on retail sales or store operations experience

  • Minimum 2 years of management experience within a retail environment

  • Proven experience managing retail operations across multiple stores or a national retail network

  • Strong understanding of luxury retail operations and customer service excellence

  • Experience leading teams and driving commercial performance

  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Business-level Japanese and English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within luxury fashion, luxury goods, or premium lifestyle brands

  • Strong knowledge of visual merchandising and retail promotions

  • Experience supporting new store openings and retail expansion projects

  • Experience managing CRM programs and customer engagement initiatives

  • Understanding of luxury clienteling and VIP customer development

Language Requirements

  • Native-level or fluent Japanese

  • Business-level English
