A globally recognized international luxury hotel is seeking a Sales Manager – Conference & Events (MICE) to support and manage group event operations at its Tokyo property.
The hotel is known for delivering world-class hospitality experiences and hosting large-scale corporate events, conferences, and international group functions. This position plays a key role in ensuring seamless coordination between clients and internal hotel teams while maximizing guest satisfaction and event revenue.
Position Overview
The Sales Manager – Conference & Events (MICE) will be responsible for managing group events involving 10 or more guestrooms, overseeing the full event lifecycle from initial inquiry through post-event follow-up.
This role requires strong coordination, communication, and operational management skills to ensure successful event execution while maintaining high hospitality standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with Sales, Banquet Operations, and various hotel departments to drive client satisfaction and business performance.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate closely with the Sales team to convert leads and inquiries into confirmed events
Prepare proposals, contracts, and event-related documentation
Manage group events from negotiation stage through event completion and client departure
Liaise with clients regarding event planning, setup requirements, and operational arrangements
Identify upselling opportunities to maximize revenue generation
Ensure effective communication between clients and internal hotel departments
Organize and lead pre-event meetings while distributing event information internally
Coordinate last-minute requests and operational changes during events
Monitor guest satisfaction and maintain strong client relationships throughout the event lifecycle
Oversee banquet and event operations to ensure service quality standards are maintained
Review invoices, billing details, and account postings for accuracy
Conduct post-event follow-ups and gather client feedback
Maintain event databases, account files, and group charts
Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
Support departmental revenue targets and provide feedback on market trends
Assist with forecasting group room nights and banquet revenue
Conduct site inspections and client visits when required
Cross-sell other hotel properties where applicable
Ensure food safety, hygiene, and hospitality standards are consistently maintained
Required Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role within an international hotel chain
Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English
Hotel sales experience preferred
Familiarity with hotel systems and databases preferred
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced hospitality environment
Team-oriented mindset with strong ownership and professionalism
Understanding of the local hospitality market and current marketing trends
