What the job entails

This Senior Associate role will own key finance and operational workstreams across Japan private equity investment entities, with a particular focus on deal closing execution. Based in Tokyo, the position serves as a day-to-day point of contact for local deal teams and external partners, helping ensure that fund flows, documentation, reporting, and governance are timely, accurate, and well controlled.

The role works closely with the Finance Manager in Japan and the broader Global Private Equity Finance team in Hong Kong and Boston. Core responsibilities include supporting deal closings, coordinating bank account openings and funding logistics, maintaining cash controls, assisting with valuation reviews, and supporting post-closing portfolio analysis. The Senior Associate will also liaise with fund administrators on financial statements, audits, tax compliance, and regulatory filings, while handling expense processing, bank reconciliations, and ad hoc projects as needed.

Key requirements / What we look for

  • 6–8 years of Big 4 public accounting and/or asset management operations experience, [suggestion: private equity operations experience preferred]

  • [suggestion: qualified accountant or equivalent] with working knowledge of JGAAP and USGAAP

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Japanese

  • Strong Excel proficiency

  • High ownership mindset, strong follow-through, and ability to work in fast-paced, multicultural environments
