Key Responsibilities
Credit Analysis & Research
Assume primary analytical responsibility for a portfolio of Japanese non‑financial corporates across multiple sectors
Evaluate quantitative and qualitative factors that drive creditworthiness
Serve as backup analyst for an additional portfolio of issuers
Develop clear forward‑looking credit opinions using established rating criteria
Internal Communication
Prepare and present detailed credit analysis to internal rating committees
Communicate expectations of issuer performance and discuss rating implications
External Communication
Lead meetings with issuer management teams
Communicate rating rationales and analytical viewpoints to external stakeholders including investors, bankers, and media
Participate in conference calls, press interactions, and prepare written research reports
Market Engagement & Outreach
Support outreach by researching performance of targeted companies
Prepare outreach materials and participate in external meetings with the Senior Director or Relationship Management team
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with all Japanese regulatory requirements relevant to credit analysis and rating publication
Ideal Candidate Profile
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a quantitative discipline
7+ years of relevant experience in:
Credit or equity research
Corporate banking (credit division)
Investment banking
Corporate finance roles
Strong financial modelling and analytical skills
Fluent Japanese & English (business standard):
High proficiency in written analysis & oral presentation
Preferred
Demonstrated success in a similar credit/risk/financial analytics role
Strong professional network within the Japanese corporate and financial community
Proven ability to innovate or introduce process improvements in prior roles
