Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and coordinate finance-related projects and initiatives aimed at strengthening internal controls and enhancing the capabilities of the Finance organization, collaborating with finance leaders and cross-functional teams as needed.

  • Oversee Finance and Accounting operations, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues in reporting and internal controls.

  • Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes for Japan legal entities in partnership with local teams—such as Accounting, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Rebate Accounting—as well as Corporate Accounting, ensuring timely and accurate closures.

  • Gradually assume responsibility for finance and accounting operations currently managed by the Director of Finance, including but not limited to key functional areas.

  • Review and approve general approval requests in accordance with the approval matrix.

  • Approve high-value journal entries after thorough review.

  • Perform secondary reviews of financial statements during closing cycles.

  • Conduct second-level reviews of treasury operations and authorize bank transactions.

  • Monitor inventory, vendor receivables, and accounts receivable aging; take proactive steps to protect asset value.

  • Develop and deliver periodic financial reports to the Japan leadership team and Regional Headquarters.

  • Organize and facilitate finance all-hands meetings and training sessions.

  • Provide support or serve as a backup for other managerial roles within the Finance organization as needed.

  • Collaborate closely with the Regional HQ Finance and Accounting teams to resolve technical issues and deliver quarterly updates.

  • Facilitate the implementation of corporate policies, processes, and system initiatives within Japan.

  • Gather and communicate feedback from local Japan teams to Regional HQ or Corporate, ensuring their input is accurately represented and considered.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Native Japanese and Business or above English skill

  • 7-10 years of experience as finance in commercial business, including experience in a good Audit firm and international business (preferred).

  • Understanding overall finance and accounting operations and having broader finance and accounting experience

  • USGAAP and JGAAP skills (USCPA and/or JCPA preferred)
