Position Overview:
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the on-site maintenance, repair, and installation of high-performance analytical instruments used in laboratory environments. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of these systems, enabling scientists and healthcare professionals to obtain accurate and trustworthy results.

This role reports to the Japan Service Manager for the analytical instruments division and will be part of a remote team structure. Company vehicle and full toolset will be provided.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel to client sites within your assigned region to perform equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.

  • Provide clear post-service explanations to clients and ensure service records are accurately entered into the internal system.

  • Manage spare parts and inventory to ensure prompt response to service requests.

  • Contribute to customer retention by suggesting maintenance services and consumables to support continuous equipment operation.

  • Continuously improve your technical skills and product knowledge to enhance the level of support provided to customers.


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an engineering or technical service role (field service experience is preferred).

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within Japan (including potential overnight stays).

  • Business-level proficiency in Japanese (spoken and written) for communication with clients and internal documentation.

  • Physical ability to perform tasks including lifting, kneeling, climbing stairs, and prolonged standing during service activities.


Preferred Experience:

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with structured problem-solving approaches.

  • Background in electrical or electromechanical systems with knowledge of safety standards.

  • Previous hands-on experience with laboratory equipment such as mass spectrometers or similar analytical tools (a plus but not mandatory).


Work Style:

  • Fully remote (home-based) with direct travel to client sites.

  • Company car, tools, and IT support provided.
