Senior Infrastructure Project Manager – Enterprise IT Programs
Role Overview
A global technology services organization is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Project Manager to lead complex IT infrastructure programs for enterprise clients in Japan. This role will oversee large-scale initiatives involving multiple workstreams, vendors, and global stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivery governance, stakeholder communication, and program outcomes, while ensuring projects are delivered according to defined standards, timelines, and budgets. This role also involves mentoring project managers and improving delivery processes across the program.
Key Responsibilities
Program and Portfolio Management
Lead multiple infrastructure projects simultaneously or manage large enterprise-scale programs.
Define overall delivery strategy, governance frameworks, and performance metrics.
Communicate regularly with senior stakeholders and provide executive-level updates on progress, risks, and decisions.
Manage client relationships at senior leadership levels.
Oversee program budgets, financial forecasting, and cost management.
Ensure vendors and partners meet performance expectations.
Review project plans, risk mitigation strategies, and delivery outcomes.
Act as the escalation point for major delivery issues and critical decision-making.
Delivery Governance and Control
Implement project management controls across workstreams, including scope management, scheduling, financial tracking, quality assurance, and change management.
Maintain structured documentation and governance aligned with recognized project management frameworks.
Ensure documentation and reporting standards meet audit and compliance requirements.
Client Engagement and Strategic Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve client infrastructure and operational efficiency.
Support initiatives such as:
Infrastructure consolidation and standardization
Cloud adoption and optimization
Automation of operational processes
Security and system resilience improvements
Help organizations transition from reactive infrastructure management to long-term modernization strategies.
Vendor and Commercial Management
Participate in vendor selection processes and contract negotiations.
Oversee vendor performance and ensure delivery commitments are met according to contractual agreements.
Technical and Operational Coordination
Coordinate cross-functional technical teams including:
Network infrastructure
Cloud platforms
Systems engineering
Cybersecurity
End-user support services
Ensure operational readiness, transition planning, and post-implementation stabilization.
Team Leadership
Mentor and support project managers and workstream leaders.
Strengthen delivery methodologies, reporting structures, and governance standards across the program.
Candidate Requirements
Experience
Approximately 8–12+ years of project or program management experience, primarily within IT infrastructure environments.
Proven experience managing complex enterprise-scale technology programs with senior stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to handle risk management, crisis resolution, and large delivery environments.
Technical Exposure
Experience with large-scale infrastructure initiatives such as:
Cloud transformation programs
Data center migration projects
Network modernization initiatives
Workplace or office infrastructure deployments
Additional Capabilities
Experience conducting infrastructure service assessments.
Ability to identify emerging technology trends and incorporate them into strategic planning.
Language Skills
Strong Japanese language capability for local stakeholder engagement.
Business-level English for communication with global teams.
