Investment Banking Associate – Tokyo

Position Overview

This role supports the execution of transactions in the Japanese market, including M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory projects. The Associate will work closely with senior bankers and contribute to client engagements across a range of industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior team members in originating, structuring, and executing M&A transactions, equity and debt offerings, and other financial advisory mandates in Japan

  • Conduct market and industry research, financial analysis, and valuation work to support transaction execution and client presentations

  • Develop financial models, pitch materials, and other documentation for client meetings and deal processes

  • Coordinate due diligence activities, maintain data rooms, and work with legal, compliance, and internal stakeholder teams to ensure efficient deal execution

  • Build and strengthen relationships with clients, investors, and market contacts to support business development efforts

  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members, helping with training and day-to-day development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related discipline; advanced degrees or professional certifications (MBA, CFA) are advantageous

  • 3–5 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, or related transaction-focused roles

  • Strong financial modeling capabilities and proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience mentoring or training junior colleagues is preferred

  • Professional fluency in English
