Summary
This role is responsible for managing the performance of third-party logistics (3PL) partners in Japan. The Assistant Manager ensures that fulfilment operations meet high standards of efficiency and customer experience, in line with the expectations of a premium retail brand. Acting as a central point of contact between internal teams and external logistics providers, the role ensures consistent service levels, compliance, and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise daily operations at the 3PL fulfilment center, including inbound shipments, returns, storage, order processing, and outbound logistics across retail and digital channels
Support logistics for special projects such as store openings, pop-up events, and internal initiatives
Lead weekly operational reviews and monthly performance meetings with 3PL partners to assess service levels and identify improvement areas
Serve as the primary liaison between internal departments (e.g., Merchandising, Planning, Retail, Digital, Supply Chain, Finance) and logistics providers
Coordinate with global and regional logistics teams to ensure alignment on standards, reporting, and compliance
Monitor and report on key performance indicators such as order accuracy, lead times, cost efficiency, productivity, and storage utilization
Address non-conformities (e.g., damaged goods, packaging errors, returns) and implement corrective actions in collaboration with quality teams and vendors
Plan and oversee periodic inventory counts conducted by 3PL partners (annual and bi-annual)
Success Metrics
Timely and accurate order fulfilment in collaboration with 3PL, while maintaining cost per unit within budget
High inventory accuracy and efficient space utilization
Minimal product handling and packaging errors, with strong conversion performance
Effective identification and resolution of operational issues
Positive feedback from internal teams and strong working relationships with logistics partners
Full compliance with local regulations and internal policies
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
Minimum 7 years of experience in logistics, fulfilment, or supply chain operations (experience with 3PL is preferred)
Background in luxury retail, premium brands, or e-commerce is a plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders
Fluent or advanced proficiency in English
