Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced QA Engineering Manager to lead quality assurance initiatives across our development lifecycle. This role involves both hands-on testing and strategic leadership, with a strong focus on automation and process improvement.

The role is hybrid, based in Tokyo, with at least one day per week required in the office. Working hours are flexible within a 7-hour workday (between 5 AM and 10 PM), with occasional adjustments (12 times per week) for meetings with the QA Director based in Boston.

You will report directly to the Senior Director of Quality Assurance, with a dotted line to the local President/GM in Japan, and will manage one direct report.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the scope of testing for each release or sprint.

  • Continuously improve QA processes and contribute to automation frameworks.

  • Design, write, and execute manual and automated test plans based on business requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with Engineering and Product teams to understand product features and testing goals.

  • Perform functional, regression, system, browser/platform compatibility, and security testing.

  • Use existing tools and create new test cases to validate functionality.

  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues with cross-functional teams to identify root causes.

  • Track, document, and manage defects and issues.

  • Oversee QA assignments and ensure timely delivery of testing outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

  • 8+ years of QA experience, both manual and automation, across various frameworks.

  • Proven experience in test automation using Selenium and C#.

  • Strong understanding of web technologies and user interfaces.

  • Proficient in scripting and development languages commonly used in QA.

  • Solid SQL skills for querying and validating data.

  • Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies.

  • Experience with API testing.

  • Business-level English proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years in quality auditing or QA leadership roles.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience managing team task assignments and follow-ups.

  • Ability to serve as the main QA liaison with development and product teams.

  • Business-level Japanese (not mandatory).

  • Team-oriented with a collaborative attitude.
