Role Overview

This role is suited for professionals with experience working alongside governments to promote foreign direct investment (FDI). The position focuses on supporting international Economic Development Organizations (EDOs) and Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) in attracting investment from Japan, while also assisting Japanese companies with overseas expansion.

You will work with government clients to design and execute investment promotion strategies, acting as a bridge between public-sector stakeholders and private-sector Japanese companies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a representative for foreign government investment agencies engaging with the Japanese market.

  • Identify, approach, and meet potential Japanese investors on behalf of government clients.

  • Research, analyze, and plan investment promotion activities using Japanese and English sources.

  • Conduct meetings, presentations, and business development discussions with relevant stakeholders.

  • Manage the full FDI promotion lifecycle, from lead generation and qualification to negotiation, investment realization, and post-investment support.

  • Provide interpretation and act as a liaison between investment promotion agencies and Japanese corporations.

  • Prepare detailed meeting notes and written reports in English for government clients.

  • Plan and support inbound and outbound missions for investment promotion agencies in Japan.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Native-level or fluent spoken and written Japanese and English.

  • Strong understanding of the Japanese business environment and investment promotion landscape.

  • Demonstrated interest in international business and cross-cultural collaboration.

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or marketing within Japan.

  • Willingness to continuously develop expertise and professional networks in investment promotion.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in foreign direct investment promotion.

  • Experience working with Middle Eastern markets is preferred but not required.
