Role Overview
This position plays a key role in overseeing and enhancing the performance of third-party logistics (3PL) operations in Japan. The successful candidate will serve as the operational liaison between the Japan-based logistics partner, suppliers, and internal teams. Responsibilities include managing warehouse activities, supporting delivery operations, handling local supply chain projects, and ensuring alignment with global supply chain strategies.
Key Objectives
Support the Supply Chain Director in managing and improving 3PL operations in Japan, including both logistics and administrative processes.
Monitor delivery performance and report key metrics on a daily basis.
Lead or support improvement projects to enhance supply chain efficiency in the Japan market.
Oversee relationships with local logistics partners, couriers, and service providers.
Assist internal business teams with logistics-related concerns and internal merchandise order processes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure warehouse partner performance meets contractual obligations, including service quality, output volume, and turnaround times (SLAs).
Oversee daily warehouse activities, approve overtime and non-standard service requests, and prioritize tasks for inbound/outbound operations.
Maintain regular on-site presence (approx. 2–3 days per week) at the 3PL warehouse to build strong operational relationships and maintain up-to-date knowledge of activities.
Manage inventory audits, including annual physical counts and weekly reconciliation between warehouse systems and internal ERP.
Lead or support local supply chain development initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Handle vendor relationships, including negotiations, routine check-ins, and quality management with partners such as logistics firms, import agents, and repair vendors.
Coordinate internal orders from the local office and ensure correct fulfillment through 3PL.
Support commercial teams with delivery issues, order releases, and administrative follow-ups (e.g., courier claims).
Work to maximize on-time and complete delivery of wholesale orders in the Japan market.
Administer internal merchandise orders, returns, and employee account management per company policy.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or related fields.
At least 2 years of experience in logistics, supply chain operations, business analysis, or management consulting.
Background in retail or the fashion industry is a plus.
Strong analytical and numerical reasoning skills.
Effective communicator with leadership potential.
Proficiency with ERP systems, WMS platforms, business analytics tools, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
Business-level fluency in both English and Japanese.
Strong business acumen and negotiation skills.
Action-oriented and results-driven, with the ability to turn strategies into outcomes.
