Position Overview

This Field Service Engineer role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of analytical instruments at both internal laboratory facilities and customer sites. Working independently within a remote field service structure, the role focuses on resolving technical issues efficiently while ensuring stable instrument operation and high customer satisfaction. A company vehicle and required tools are provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visit customer sites within the assigned territory to perform equipment installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair

  • Prepare service reports and clearly explain work performed and equipment status to customers

  • Manage spare parts ordering and inventory to enable prompt response and minimize downtime

  • Accurately record service activities in internal systems and share equipment status with the service team

  • Propose appropriate maintenance plans, consumables, and service quotations to support long-term instrument performance and service business growth

  • Continuously enhance product knowledge and technical skills to provide reliable technical advice and improve customer satisfaction

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on engineering experience (field service experience preferred)

  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel independently to customer sites (day trips and overnight travel required)

  • Business-level Japanese proficiency for customer communication, report writing, and internal system use

  • Ability to perform physical tasks required for service work, including standing, walking, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and stair climbing

Preferred Experience

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to follow structured problem-solving procedures

  • Experience with electrical or electromechanical systems and adherence to safety protocols

  • Prior experience servicing analytical instruments, scientific equipment, or mass spectrometry systems (advantageous but not required)

Work Style & Environment

  • Fully remote, direct-to-customer field service role

  • Reports directly to a regional service supervisor within the field service organization

  • Limited administrative burden with strong team collaboration and system support
