Role Overview
This position focuses on the development of AI models for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving (AD) solutions. The successful candidate will lead data analysis and processing activities within automotive AI projects and play a central role in delivering intelligent mobility solutions to clients.
The role contributes to strengthening the firm’s automotive engineering presence in Japan by utilizing global knowledge, methodologies, and engineering assets while building scalable local capabilities.
Close collaboration with both domestic clients and international development teams is essential. Business-level proficiency in Japanese and English is required.
Mission
You will contribute to the advancement of next-generation autonomous driving technologies by designing and implementing AI models deployed in ADAS and AD systems.
Areas of development include:
Perception models
Sensor fusion algorithms
Object tracking and prediction systems
Decision-making and motion planning logic
Driver monitoring systems
In addition to technical delivery, you will help expand the organization’s automotive engineering capabilities in Japan by applying established global best practices and frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Design system architectures for ADAS and safety-critical automotive functions
Develop and simulate ADAS functionalities using MATLAB and Simulink
Lead automotive data analysis and processing initiatives across ADAS and AD programs
Apply global engineering methodologies to strengthen local automotive capabilities
Collaborate closely with clients and cross-functional global development teams
Support strategic growth initiatives within the automotive engineering practice
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience as an automotive data engineer
Proven experience designing and managing ADAS and AD data pipelines across edge and cloud environments (AWS or Azure)
Strong expertise in:
Sensor data ingestion and processing
Multi-sensor fusion and time synchronization
Noise filtering and sensor calibration
Scalable storage and high-performance processing of automotive datasets
Solid understanding of cloud architecture, database systems, and application integration on AWS or Azure
Experience with AI-based image processing systems and LSI-related technologies
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Databricks
Experience with Apache Airflow, Kafka, AWS Flink, or custom ETL frameworks
Experience working with data lakes and cloud storage platforms such as Redshift, AWS S3, or Azure Blob Storage
Experience integrating MLOps platforms such as MLflow, Kubeflow, or ClearML
Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and CI/CD pipeline implementation
Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or C++
Business-level proficiency in Japanese and English (reading, writing, speaking, and listening)
Experience using collaboration and development tools such as JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, and Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in embedded software development for ADAS systems
Prior experience working with Japanese automotive OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers
