Key Responsibilities:
Formulate and implement the customs strategy across Japan
Establish and lead the national customs team
Work closely with the sales team to create independent customs business opportunities
Foster and enhance partnerships with external collaborators
Manage AEO certification and ensure adherence to regulatory standards
Plan and oversee the customs budget
Ensure all customs activities comply with Japanese Customs regulations
Serve as the Export Compliance Officer for security trade control
Liaise with regional and global offices to align operations
Qualifications:
5+ years of customs management experience (including multi-site management) at a major freight forwarder
Deep knowledge of the Japanese market
Licensed Customs Specialist (通関士) with 8+ years of practical experience
AEO-certified company experience preferred
Language Requirements:
Japanese: Native level (JLPT N1 or equivalent – must be able to interpret legal documents)
English: Business level (TOEIC 800+; required for meetings with global teams and internal executives)
