Overview
This position is responsible for overseeing merchandising operations in the Japan market, covering multiple channels including retail, digital, and outlet. The role’s key objective is to ensure the “right product, in the right place, at the right time” to maximize business performance and profitability across all locations.
Working closely with the Head of Merchandising for Asia, this role will ensure that the Japan assortment aligns with global strategies while meeting local market needs. Collaboration with the Japan business team is essential to monitor performance and drive commercial results.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Asia Merchandising team to achieve sales and profit targets through strategic stock allocation based on capacity, brand positioning, and commercial potential.
Conduct weekly business reviews by analyzing sales performance, customer feedback, and market trends, maintaining close communication with stores.
Participate in the buying process by planning range reviews, preparing historical sales data, and supporting quarterly buys.
Join weekly trade meetings with the Japan team to review performance, identify opportunities and risks, and agree on action plans.
Perform seasonal market and product research to identify local trends and provide feedback to the regional and global teams.
Coordinate with retail and e-commerce teams to identify and resolve stock replenishment challenges.
Support other merchandising-related projects and operational improvements as required.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience in the fashion or apparel industry.
Strong understanding of business planning, sales analysis, and inventory management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in both written and spoken English.
Advanced Excel skills for reporting and analysis.
Proactive, confident, and creative approach to problem-solving.
Strong team player with a collaborative mindset and ability to work cross-functionally.
Experience managing day-to-day operations in a dynamic environment.
