Public Relations Manager - Japan
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support and implement PR initiatives in Japan aligned with global communications priorities, including messaging, brand storytelling, and reputation-building activities.
2. Build and maintain strong relationships with national, business, and trade media, as well as industry experts, analysts, and other influential voices.
3. Create and deliver compelling stories and media materials that communicate the clients values, mission, and innovations to Japanese audiences.
4. Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure consistent messaging and effective execution of communication programs.
5. Monitor media coverage and public sentiment, and provide regular reports, insights, and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
6. Contribute to localized storytelling efforts that highlight the clients value proposition, community impact, and contributions to consumers and sellers.
7. Provide input and support on messaging, narrative development, and reputational topics for internal teams.
Qualifications:
1. 5+ years of experience in public relations, communications, or media roles, ideally with a focus on e-commerce, retail, technology, internet, or consumer sectors.
2. Proven experience in media relations with established contacts in major national, business, or trade outlets.
3. Native speaker of Japanese with excellent command of English as a working language to communicate effectively with global and regional teams.
4. Strong writing, storytelling, and communication skills, with the ability to adapt messages for different audiences and platforms.
5. Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, global environment, collaborating effectively across cultures and time zones.
6. Strategic thinking mindset with strong attention to detail, and the ability to translate insights into actionable communication tactics.
