Business Planning & Analysis – Assistant Manager to Manager

Location: Tokyo (Aoyama Office) – Hybrid
Reports To: Business Planning & Analysis Director
Employment Type: Full-time

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical and proactive Assistant Manager to Manager for the Business Planning & Analysis team.
This role sits within the company’s management support function and is responsible for analyzing company-wide performance, preparing key reports, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving cross-functional projects that contribute to revenue growth.

You will play a central role in budgeting, KPI analysis, strategic planning, and cross-departmental alignment to help steer the business toward its goals.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Business Planning

  • Support company-wide strategic planning activities

  • Lead or contribute to annual budget development and ongoing budget control

  • Analyze business performance, including sales trends, KPIs, and profitability metrics

Reporting

  • Prepare management reports for:

    • Global headquarters

    • Senior leadership

    • Office departments

    • Retail stores

  • Provide insights based on data analysis to support business decisions

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead or support cross-functional meetings, including preparation of agendas and meeting minutes

  • Drive collaboration across HQ, retail, and internal teams to support business execution

Project & Initiative Support

  • Propose new initiatives aligned with business strategy

  • Lead or support execution of business development projects and operational improvements

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical skills with experience in:

    • Sales analysis

    • KPI tracking

    • Business intelligence tools and Excel

  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint (presentation and reporting skills)

  • Business-level or conversational English

    • Experience preparing reports in English is a plus

  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration, including retail teams

Experience & Qualifications

Candidates must meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Experience at a consulting firm

  • Experience in corporate planning / business planning within a company

  • Experience in planning roles such as MD Planner or Sales Planner
