Position: Visual Merchandising Planner – Fragrance & Beauty

Location: Japan

Role Overview

A leading global luxury fragrance and beauty company is seeking a Visual Merchandising Planner to deliver high-quality, creative visual merchandising strategies across all retail points of sale in Japan.

This role is responsible for ensuring consistent brand presentation, premium visual standards, and effective merchandising execution nationwide, while aligning visual solutions with both brand expectations and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent and accurate visual merchandising execution across the Japan market in line with display planograms, visual layouts, and campaign design guidelines

  • Adapt global visual merchandising guidelines to meet the specific needs and retail environment of the Japanese market

  • Develop and propose creative and innovative display concepts for seasonal campaigns and special projects, while maintaining brand integrity

  • Train, manage, and supervise external visual merchandising vendors to ensure high-quality execution through continuous communication

  • Collaborate closely with the local creative studio and architecture teams to deliver cohesive visual solutions for retail projects

  • Maintain brand identity and premium standards across all visual executions to enhance the overall customer experience

  • Work closely with both local and global stakeholders, including marketing, sales, forecasting, and creative direction teams, to continuously improve visual merchandising planning and execution

Core Tasks

  • Create visual merchandising design proposals and presentation materials

  • Develop, adapt, and localize visual merchandising guidelines and manuals

  • Coordinate and communicate with internal teams and global counterparts

  • Manage display tools and fixtures for all campaigns across all points of sale

  • Place and manage orders with external suppliers and vendors

  • Forecast import requirements for visual merchandising materials

  • Oversee maintenance and ongoing support of displays

  • Conduct regular market visits to ensure in-store visual standards are met

  • Review in-store visuals through regular photo checks

  • Manage visual merchandising budgets

  • Oversee inventory of imported materials for maintenance and future campaigns

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Industrial or Product Design, Visual Communication, Graphic Design, Multimedia, or a related field

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in visual merchandising, graphic design, or event design

  • Experience within the cosmetics, beauty, or luxury consumer industry is highly preferred

Key Competencies

  • Creative, proactive, and well-organized with a strong sense of ownership and deadline management

  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

  • Familiarity with SketchUp, 3D, or CAD software is an advantage

  • Business-level written and spoken English for collaboration with global teams

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Effective project management capability

  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and manage pressure

  • Strong team-oriented mindset
