Leather Goods Merchandising Manager

Role Mission

A leading international luxury fashion house is seeking a Leather Goods Merchandising Manager to oversee purchasing and performance management for leather goods categories across the retail network. This role is responsible for driving strong sell-through by store, collection, and product range, supporting store leadership, and ensuring sales teams are fully trained on collections, product strategy, and commercial priorities.

The position works in close collaboration with multiple internal functions and plays a key role in delivering sales targets while maintaining brand image and product excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build product assortments during showroom buying sessions in line with brand positioning, core assortment guidelines, and purchasing budgets, allocating quantities by store.

  • Plan and coordinate in-store launches of new collections based on delivery schedules, seasonal trends, and market-specific requirements.

  • Partner closely with Store Managers and Directors to monitor product performance through regular communication and in-store presence.

  • Train sales teams on key investments, stock management, and brand image strategies through structured materials and in-store presentations.

  • Prepare and analyze weekly and monthly performance reports by collection, store, and product category, with a focus on sell-through and resale rates.

  • Propose and implement sales-driven initiatives to improve performance in collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Visual Merchandising, CRM, Retail Operations, and Brand/Image teams.

  • Manage stock transfers and replenishment activities to optimize availability and performance.

  • Share in-season performance feedback with product management teams and prepare end-of-season analyses by product type, function, usage, pricing, and market positioning versus competitors.

  • Support sales periods and promotional phases, ensuring effective execution across the retail network.

  • Contribute to strategic projects related to brand positioning and retail network expansion, including new store openings.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, or a related field.

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a comparable merchandising role within an international or luxury environment.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Strong understanding of brand positioning and product strategy, with particular sensitivity to women’s categories, especially handbags and leather goods.

  • Solid market knowledge and commercial awareness.

  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven mindset.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
