About the Role
A global medical technology company is seeking a National Sales Director to lead its Cardiopulmonary (CP) business operations in Japan. This leadership role will be responsible for shaping and executing the commercial strategy, managing nationwide sales activities, and delivering strong business performance. The position requires a seasoned professional with in-depth industry knowledge, strategic vision, and proven sales leadership.
Primary Responsibilities
Drive the national CP sales strategy, achieving targets related to revenue, orders, profitability, and customer satisfaction
Evaluate market trends and competitor activity to design and implement business development strategies
Collaborate across departments including Sales, Marketing, and Operations to deliver growth initiatives and optimize execution
Translate strategic plans into clear, measurable actions with ongoing performance tracking and adjustments
Cultivate strong relationships with hospitals, clinical stakeholders, and key opinion leaders (KOLs)
Support distributor management and assist sales teams during negotiations and commercial discussions
Lead, mentor, and manage the sales organization, with emphasis on empowering first-line managers
Serve as the lead commercial representative to CP customers, maintaining a cohesive brand presence
Address client concerns and escalate service or commercial issues when necessary
Recruit, retain, and develop high-performing talent across the sales team
Ensure all sales activities comply with internal policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree required
10+ years of experience in sales or marketing, ideally within the medical device sector
Minimum of 5 years in a senior management or leadership role
Flexibility to travel as needed for business operations
