Position: Off-Premise Key Account Manager - Tokyo Metro

Location: Tokyo, Japan

 

This position leads business relationships with key customer groups, including wholesalers and retailers. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities, overcoming challenges, planning, negotiating, and executing customer plans in order to achieve KPIs and drive profitable sales growth.

 

Responsibilities:

• Gain a deep understanding of each customer’s business, strategies, and goals. Utilize data and insights effectively to uncover business opportunities and threats and support sound business decision-making.

• Build mutually beneficial relationships with wholesalers and retailers. Develop and execute customer plans that include pricing, product portfolio, trading terms, promotional activities, and strategies to expand and activate in-store visibility. You will also plan and lead semi-annual business review meetings and negotiations with customers.

• Effectively manage a diverse range of customers. Create accurate demand forecasts, continuously monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of promotional programs, and allocate rebates and other budgets appropriately to drive profitable business growth.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales Planning, Trade Marketing, and other departments. Engage in transparent discussions with various stakeholders regarding challenges, opportunities, future plans, performance, and business insights.

 

Requirements:

• Over 3 years of experience in the FMCG industry managing accounts and networks with wholesalers and retailers

• Strong business acumen and judgment grounded in strategic thinking

• High levels of integrity and ethical standards

• Strong drive to achieve results

• Ability to build productive internal and external relationships and gain alignment on business proposals with the support of your manager

• Ability to set clear direction, prioritize, manage multiple business objectives, and complete them within defined deadlines

• A cooperative team player with strong conflict management skills

• Adaptability and the ability to overcome challenges with flexibility

• Persuasive communication skills—including influence, active listening, presentation, and writing.

• Ability to clearly and concisely explain analytical results using visuals such as charts and slides.

What Makes You Unique

 

• Experience in the alcohol industry, with knowledge of trading margins and rebates in the premium and super-premium imported spirits sector (both wholesale and retail)

• Work experience at a foreign-owned company, particularly American or European firms

• English proficiency
