Summary
A global alternative asset manager with over $1 trillion in assets under management is seeking an experienced, digitally fluent marketing and communications professional for its Japan Public Affairs / Firmwide Marketing team.
This role focuses on driving localized communications strategy, adapting global marketing content for the Japan market, and supporting senior executives with media engagement, messaging, and high-quality communication assets.
You will partner closely with local Events and Private Wealth marketing teams, as well as global content, digital, and production teams, to align Japan market execution with global brand strategy.
Reporting line: APAC Firmwide Marketing Lead, Public Affairs (MD level)
Responsibilities
Marketing & Content Localization
Localize global marketing strategies for the Japan market, ensuring alignment with local language, culture, regulatory requirements, and market context.
Lead end-to-end content adaptation:
Translate briefs into localized assets (long/short form)
Adjust messaging and tone
Oversee translation and transcreation workflows
Manage digital execution for Japan:
Website and landing pages
Social media campaigns
Email programs
Analytics and performance measurement
Coordinate with compliance and legal teams to ensure regulatory adherence and maintain documentation and audit trails.
Public Affairs & Communications
Plan, design, and execute communications strategy for Japan, including:
Media reports
Briefing notes
Communication plans
Talking points
Speeches for senior executives
Support Public Affairs and business teams with public announcements related to transactions.
Maintain and deepen media relationships, ensuring consistent firmwide messaging.
Support events, media gatherings, lunches/dinners.
Daily monitoring of media coverage related to the firm and broader industry.
Content Management & Internal Coordination
Establish and manage regional content calendars and campaign schedules.
Coordinate stakeholder alignment across markets and channels.
Oversee LinkedIn programs for key executives in Japan:
Strategy development
Content creation
Review & approval workflow
Conduct in-depth research and produce high-quality written materials:
Outlines
Editing
Proofreading
Contribute to performance measurement frameworks and research initiatives, aligning with global standards.
Requirements
6+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or digital roles within the Japanese market; background in asset management, financial services, or professional services preferred.
Proven experience in content localization and multi-market digital program management.
Strong digital skill set, including:
CMS, email platforms
Social media & paid digital channels
Analytics (Google Analytics or equivalent)
Basic SEO/SEM
Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders (investment, distribution, compliance, creative).
Fluency in Japanese and English (excellent writing and editing required in both).
Strong project management abilities; able to juggle multiple global stakeholders and deadlines.
Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced, global environment.
Strong Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Affairs, or related field.
