[CLIENT SUMMARY] 

World leading global marketing group is seeking a hybrid Strategic Planning Director who have the experiences, skills and passion to lead the brand and communication (creative and touchpoint) strategy across a diverse portfolio of global and domestic brands while being equally fluent in the worlds of social, content, and digital ecosystems. 

[RESPONSIBILITIES]

  • Lead the development of brand and communication strategy that positively impacts  clients’ businesses and consumers’ lives through the power of creativity. Ground strategies in a thorough understanding and sharp articulation of client ambition, challenges and opportunities, leveraging insightful and inspiring truths into culture, category and target audience and their communities – drawn from data analytic (partner and proprietary database), research (desktop, qualitative and quantitive studiens, social listening) and real-world everyday observations. 
  • Lead the development of strategic proposals and client presentations that offer strong points of view, compelling rationales and engaging storytelling. 
  • Lead the development of experience journeys and connection plans across traditional media, digital, and social platforms (both paids and owned). Lead the development of a range of strategic outputs beyond brand and communication, for example, marketing initiatives, product concepts, brand architecture, and portfolio strategy, etc.
  • Design and lead external and internal workshops that uncover insights, align stakeholders and spark ideas.
  • Lead internal briefing and partner with internal teams - creative, social content, digital and media to unlock impactful ideas and shape cohesive, strategically grounded proposals and presentations.
  • Partner with McCann Worldgroup offices outside Japan on regional projects and international requests.Serve as a trusting and resourceful senior strategic partner to clients, delivering thought leadership and high- quality strategic support while identifying opportunities to grow business value. Play an active and strategic role in new business pitches and agency growth.
  • Contribute actively to enhancing McCann Tokyo’s strategic capabilities in areas such as thought leadership, data-driven thinking, and creative/marketing effectiveness.Mentor, guide and grow junior planners and interns while proactively supporting Head of Strategy in building a high-performing and collaborative team culture.

    [REQUIREMENTS]
  • 8+ years of experience in strategic planning roles at creative, digital, or integrated agencies.
  • Proven track record in developing brand and communication strategies - especially global-to-local, local-to-global assignments.
  • Capability in social media and content strategy (paid and owned), including platform-specific planning and influencer strategy, and familiarity with performance marketing, digital media planning, and measurement frameworks is a plus.
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English and Japanese (business level or higher preferred) with excellent presentation skills.
