Retail Training Manager – Tokyo

Position: Retail Training Manager
Reports To: Retail Director
Location: Tokyo Main Office

Role Summary

The Retail Training Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of training initiatives for all retail staff across Japan. The role ensures that team members are fully equipped with the skills, product knowledge, and service standards necessary to deliver an exceptional customer experience and drive business performance. The position reports directly to the Retail Director and collaborates with regional and global stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Align local training strategy with global brand guidelines and ensure consistent implementation

  • Conduct in-store field coaching to reinforce service standards and operational procedures

  • Design and produce high-quality training materials, including manuals, visual aids, and multimedia content

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training through performance assessments and field observations, offering feedback and improvement plans

  • Assess training needs through store visits and interviews with retail teams

  • Implement and follow up on the Mystery Shopper Program

  • Partner with internal teams including Retail Operations, Merchandising, and Store Management to ensure business objectives are supported through training

  • Deliver various training modules, including but not limited to: Product Knowledge, Brand History, Materials, Systems, and Sales Techniques

  • Monitor and report on training KPIs and maintain accurate training records

  • Mentor and develop training team members to enhance overall capability and performance

Candidate Profile

  • Passion for luxury fashion and retail excellence

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a retail setting, preferably in a luxury fashion environment

  • Previous experience in a senior training or training management role

  • Proactive, adaptable, and eager to take on new challenges

  • Proven experience in team and people management

  • Native-level Japanese communication skills and business-level English proficiency

  • Strong presentation and interpersonal communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

  • Willingness to travel frequently, including potential overseas travel
