Country Manager – Japan

Overview:
The Country Manager will oversee all operations in Japan, including strategic planning, sales growth, client relationship management, and team leadership. This role requires deep knowledge of the Japanese market, proven leadership in industrial refrigeration, HVAC, or related industries, and the ability to represent the brand effectively within the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership & Business Development

    • Develop and implement strategies to achieve sales, profitability, and market share targets.

    • Identify and pursue new opportunities within refrigeration, HVAC, and related sectors.

    • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to adjust business plans.

  • Sales & Client Management

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, distributors, and key stakeholders.

    • Oversee the sales team to drive revenue growth and ensure customer satisfaction.

    • Negotiate contracts and establish long-term partnerships.

  • Operational Management

    • Lead the Japan office, including budgeting and forecasting.

    • Ensure compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and global policies.

    • Oversee delivery, logistics, and after-sales service to maintain high operational standards.

  • Team Leadership

    • Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing team with a collaborative and results-driven culture.

    • Set performance objectives, provide coaching, and conduct regular evaluations.

  • Brand Representation

    • Represent the company in Japan, promoting its values and solutions.

    • Participate in industry events, trade shows, and professional associations to enhance visibility.

  • Collaboration & Reporting

    • Work closely with regional and global teams to align strategies and share best practices.

    • Provide regular reports on market performance, sales, and operations to senior management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred.

  • 8–10+ years of leadership experience in industrial refrigeration, HVAC, or similar industries.

  • Proven record of business development and operational management in Japan.

  • Strong knowledge of industrial refrigeration technologies and applications.

  • Fluent in Japanese and English (written and spoken); additional languages a plus.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong understanding of Japanese market dynamics, regulations, and business culture.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
