Position Overview
The FP&A Manager plays a key leadership role in driving financial performance, enabling strategic decision-making, and enhancing operational excellence within the Japan business.
This position works closely with Commercial, Marketing, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Revenue Growth Management (RGM) teams to ensure robust financial planning, high-quality analysis, and effective business performance management.
The role offers the opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals both locally in Tokyo and with regional headquarters in Europe. The FP&A function is central to the organization, providing exposure to multiple business dimensions and contributing to strategic decision-making from a broad perspective.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis
Conduct comprehensive financial analyses across retail and other sales channels to support timely and informed management decision-making.
Support the development and reporting of the Long-Range Plan, Annual Budget, and Quarterly Forecasts.
Business Performance Management
Support monthly closing activities, including variance analysis and reporting of actual results versus budget and forecasts.
Provide detailed variance analysis across sales, operating expenses (OPEX), capital expenditures (CAPEX), margins, and profitability by channel (retail, wholesale, e-commerce).
Internal Controls and Process Improvement
Strengthen and maintain financial control frameworks and business integrity across departments.
Contribute to digitalization and automation initiatives, including tools such as Power BI and SAP.
Collaborate with local department heads and global finance teams to enhance operational efficiency, data accuracy, and transparency through improved systems and processes.
Headquarters Collaboration
Translate Japan market performance and dynamics into strategic insights and actionable narratives for regional headquarters stakeholders.
Respond to ad hoc analysis requests from headquarters, delivering clear and data-driven insights.
Required Qualifications
High business-level proficiency in English.
Experience working within an international or global business environment.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in FP&A or controlling roles.
Experience within global retail or FMCG organizations preferred.
Alternatively, candidates from financial institutions, consulting firms, or audit backgrounds with strong learning agility will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or professional accounting/finance certifications such as CPA or CFA are advantageous.
