Team Management: Oversees Sales Managers, Sales Consultants, and Sales Support staff
Stakeholder Collaboration: Strong cross-functional alignment with local operations leadership and site managers
Overview
This role is responsible for leading and maximizing sales performance across the Japan market for a multinational hospitality and leisure organization.
The Sales Director will drive revenue growth by optimizing sales structures, improving operational processes, and expanding both existing and new sales channels. The position also plays a key role in strengthening organizational capabilities, enhancing reporting frameworks, and contributing to overall business performance through close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Performance Management
Lead overall sales performance, revenue growth, and profitability in Japan
Establish structured sales rhythms (daily/weekly/monthly) to drive consistent performance improvement
Promote high-quality, customer-focused, and ethical sales practices
Sales Operations & Process Improvement
Standardize and enhance sales processes, workflows, and reporting systems
Strengthen operational efficiency across multiple sites and ensure alignment with on-site teams
Partner with HR and Finance to optimize organizational structure, role clarity, and incentive frameworks
Lead Generation & Channel Development
Develop and execute strategies to build a strong and sustainable sales pipeline
Launch and optimize new or expanded sales channels to increase market reach
Improve conversion rates across the full sales funnel (lead → appointment → closing)
Team Leadership & Talent Development
Lead hiring, onboarding, and performance management of the sales organization
Develop leadership capabilities across managers and front-line teams
Foster a culture of coaching, continuous learning, and succession planning
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with operations, marketing, finance, HR, and other key departments
Contribute sales insights to improve customer experience and operational performance
Support new business initiatives, service enhancements, and expansion projects
Partnership Management
Build and maintain relationships with external partners (e.g., hospitality partners, business affiliates)
Drive joint initiatives to enhance lead generation, sales opportunities, and customer experience
Commercial Strategy & Revenue Optimization
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maximize revenue across products and services
Identify opportunities for cross-selling, up-selling, and overall commercial improvement
Compliance & Governance
Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and internal compliance standards
Promote ethical sales practices, data protection, and customer-first principles
Data, Reporting & Systems
Leverage CRM and sales systems to improve visibility and effectiveness across the sales lifecycle
Deliver accurate and timely reporting on KPIs and performance metrics
Support data-driven decision-making across the organization
Requirements
10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience in hospitality, travel, or multi-site consumer business environments
Proven track record in leading organizational transformation (e.g., restructuring, integration, or scaling sales teams)
Hands-on experience with lead generation models (including call-center collaboration), CRM platforms, and sales systems
Fluency in Japanese and business-level English
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Solid understanding of local labor practices and management frameworks
Willingness to travel and flexibility to support weekend or holiday operations when required
