Role Overview
A global consumer manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join its regional finance team in Japan. Reporting to the local Finance Supervisor, this role will play a key part in statutory reporting, tax compliance, and day-to-day finance operations for the Japan entity, while collaborating closely with the broader Asia-Pacific finance organization.
This position offers the opportunity to apply professional accounting expertise across financial reporting, taxation, banking operations, and financial analysis within a multinational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Period-End Close & Financial Reporting

Participate in month-end close processes for the Japan entity

Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards

Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations
Transactional Accounting

Manage accounts payable processes

Process employee expense claims

Handle accounts receivable activities
Tax & Compliance

Support payroll-related tax compliance in collaboration with the HR team

Assist with corporate tax compliance and statutory requirements in coordination with the Finance Supervisor
Audit & Risk Management

Support internal audit initiatives in cooperation with regional and global finance teams

Assist in identifying financial and operational risks alongside local management
Systems & Tools

Use financial reporting and consolidation systems (experience with enterprise finance tools preferred)

Advanced use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Required Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline

Professional accounting qualification (CPA or equivalent)

Strong sense of integrity, accuracy, and professional ethics

Bilingual capability strongly preferred (Japanese with business-level English or another language)

Prior experience in wholesale distribution or the automotive/manufacturing sector is an advantage
