Role Overview

A global consumer manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join its regional finance team in Japan. Reporting to the local Finance Supervisor, this role will play a key part in statutory reporting, tax compliance, and day-to-day finance operations for the Japan entity, while collaborating closely with the broader Asia-Pacific finance organization.

This position offers the opportunity to apply professional accounting expertise across financial reporting, taxation, banking operations, and financial analysis within a multinational environment.

Key Responsibilities

Period-End Close & Financial Reporting

  • Participate in month-end close processes for the Japan entity

  • Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards

  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations

Transactional Accounting

  • Manage accounts payable processes

  • Process employee expense claims

  • Handle accounts receivable activities

Tax & Compliance

  • Support payroll-related tax compliance in collaboration with the HR team

  • Assist with corporate tax compliance and statutory requirements in coordination with the Finance Supervisor

Audit & Risk Management

  • Support internal audit initiatives in cooperation with regional and global finance teams

  • Assist in identifying financial and operational risks alongside local management

Systems & Tools

  • Use financial reporting and consolidation systems (experience with enterprise finance tools preferred)

  • Advanced use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline

  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA or equivalent)

  • Strong sense of integrity, accuracy, and professional ethics

  • Bilingual capability strongly preferred (Japanese with business-level English or another language)

  • Prior experience in wholesale distribution or the automotive/manufacturing sector is an advantage
