Position Overview

A global scientific instrumentation company is seeking a Country Manager for Japan with additional responsibility for the wider Asia region. This role leads the sales strategy and execution for the Magnetic Resonance business, manages the local team, and drives business expansion across key markets.

The position includes overseeing customer relationships, developing new business opportunities, and serving as the primary negotiator for major accounts, including OEM clients in the analytical instrumentation sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sales strategies for the Japanese market

  • Manage sales targets, forecasting, and reporting to global headquarters

  • Lead and supervise the local sales team within the Magnetic Resonance division

  • Maintain and expand relationships with customers in Japan and across Asia

  • Identify new business opportunities and strengthen regional distributor networks

  • Act as the key negotiator for major accounts, including OEM and multi-division customers

  • Coordinate closely with global headquarters on strategy, reporting, and cross-regional initiatives

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

Experience & Skills

  • Several years of sales experience in scientific instruments or analytical products

  • Experience in NMR-related sales highly preferred

  • Business-level English (required for communication with global teams)

  • Experience managing sales teams within global or foreign-owned companies

  • Experience overseeing distributors in Asia

  • Marketing experience is a plus

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to engage effectively with senior-level external stakeholders

  • Strong business writing and presentation abilities

Working Conditions

  • Working hours: 9:00–17:30

  • Flextime system available (no core hours, full flex)

  • Standard working hours: 7.5 hours/day (lunch break: 12:00–13:00)

  • Salary review: once per year

About the Magnetic Resonance Business

This division develops and supplies benchtop NMR spectroscopy and time‑domain NMR (TD‑NMR) solutions used in advanced research and industrial quality control across multiple sectors.

Applications include:

  • Molecular structure analysis and reaction monitoring

  • Quality assurance in food, agriculture, textiles, polymers, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals

  • Core analysis in energy and geophysics fields

All systems are designed and manufactured in specialized facilities in Europe.
