Overview
We are seeking a Data Science Consultant specializing in Precision Medicine to join a growing team supporting advanced data-driven research in the biopharmaceutical industry. In this role, you will help partners across the drug R&D continuum realize the potential of precision medicine by leveraging complex clinical, phenotypic, molecular, and imaging datasets. You will apply your scientific and technical expertise to address real-world challenges in modern therapeutic development.
This position sits within the Customer Success organization in Tokyo and reports to the local team lead.
Key Responsibilities

Serve as the scientific lead on software implementation projects, providing consulting, workflow analysis, and solution design.

Plan, execute, and deliver data science projects, ensuring high-quality analytical results and clear presentations for clients.

Develop and maintain strong scientific and technical relationships with customers as their primary point of contact.

Partner closely with the commercial team to identify new opportunities and support business growth.

Share customer insights and domain expertise with internal teams, including Sales, Product Management, and Software Development.
Required Qualifications

Master’s degree or PhD in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Health Sciences, or a related field, with a strong foundation in both computational and life science disciplines.

Hands-on experience working with multi-omics, biomarker, imaging, and clinical datasets, ideally within the biopharma environment.

Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or R.

Demonstrated project management and delivery skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and uphold high analytical standards.

Native-level or N1 Japanese, plus business-level English.

Willingness to travel occasionally, including international trips.
Preferred Experience

Familiarity with biopharmaceutical R&D workflows.

Experience with interactive data visualization tools (e.g., R Shiny, Python Dash).
